Something to think about

From my previously talked about book, "In her novel The Face of a Strangeri, Anne Perry, herself a single, faithful Latter-day Saint woman, writes words that had significance to me. She writes of Hester, who is fast approaching age thrity, and the advice given her: "Do i detect a note of self-pity, Hester?...You will have to learn to conquer that....Too many women waste thier lives grieving because they do not have something other people tell them they should want. Nearly all married women will tell you it is a blessed state, and you are to be pitied for not being in it. That is arrant nonsense. Whether you are happy or not depends to some degree upon outward circumstances, but mostly it depends on how you choose to look at things yourself, whether you measure what you have or what you have not."

I love it!

Understanding...

So I recently had a conversation with a newlywed person (who shall remain unnamed), and of course the direction of the conversation was surrounding the subject of how to talk to a 'single' person. It also happens that same day that I bought this book directed to single LDS women and how to be happy in such a family and marriage oriented religion. Its basically like I wrote the book..I feel almost 100% everything that Kristen Oaks wrote about. (Sister Oaks married Elder Oaks of the Twelve Apostles after she was 50 years old) Anyway, this person asked me how to talk to her single friends without offending them and making them feel like being single was a bad thing. (okay--remember I'm single here)...then she said that she didn't feel like single people realized how much busier married people are and that basically their lives just don't take as much energy and we just don't understand that lifestyle....so NUMBER ONE--(if you dont want to offend a single person, DO NOT make them feel like their time in life isn't worth as much just because they aren't married, DO NOT tell them that they don't understand what its like to be busy...because the TRUTH is, we are just as busy, your day doesn't take more energy than ours, but really a single persons PRIORITIES in life just differ from that of a married person.. That's all it really boils down to...different priorities. (Luckily, I really wasn't too offended and I told her that by telling her single friends things like that, no wonder she can't figure out how to talk to them).

Okay, so NUMBER TWO....just go buy this book....HECK I'll let you borrow it! As I've read this book, I really have come to a better understanding of myself and worth in the Lord's sight..single or married. I truly feel that EVERY PRIESTHOOD leader and MARRIED WOMAN and SINGLE WOMAN or MAN should read this book. It will give you insight to our feelings and our struggles in this 'Mormon' culture. So seriously...I'm not kidding....come borrow my book..ITS AWESOME!!! Its called "A Single Voice" by Kristen M. Oaks

Just have to say...

Okay I'm just going to say this because its seriously been bugging me. Its not meant to offend anyone I just have to get it off my chest..so

If you are planning a wedding or know someone that is planning a wedding you really shouldn't put your own wedding video together OR have a friend do it either. I'm just saying...yes they are expensive but they are so worth it, especially when they are of good quality! So with that in mind.... (and I promise I'm not trying to get business here, hire someone else for all I care) I do own a business for wedding videos. I do it all...slide shows, actual live footage, whatever you want. And honestly it will be much nicer and better quality than what you think you or your buddy can whip up.

I know it sounds like I'm trying to get business but it not the case...I just know of a few people that 'hired' their buddy or themselves to put together their video or they were too stubborn to ask me and frankly they sucked. Sorry but its true. So even if you think you can't afford it....call me and we can work something out...I promise....you wont be disappointed.

Okay I'm stepping off the soap box now.

One last thing....if this somehow inspired you to want to talk to me about your wedding video (or your friends) you can call my cell or email me at capturingalegacy@yahoo.com
And I don't do only weddings, I put other video presentations together as well....graduations, eagle scouts, family reunions, whatevery you want...I'll figure something AMAZING out just FOR YOU!! (okay that was me totally trying to get business ;)

Georgeous George

Really there is not much to say...went to the George Strait concert last night.....what can I say but, AMAZING!! King George is one of the few that gets better looking and sounding with age so I'll just leave it at that....sigh.
I'll save all my ranting about driving drunk, sunburn pealing, crazy driving, and my new theories about life for another time...haha...lets just all savor this moment with George.
